Lisa’s
Thesis

Lisa completed her doctoral studies, in Ethnobiology in 2016 at the University of Kent in the Dept of Anthropology.

Following an MSc in Ethnobotany from the University of Kent and in conjunction with Kew Gardens, Lisa won a studentship to study for her doctorate full-time in the department for Conservation & Anthropology. Lisa’s research area was ‘Bushcraft and Indigenous Knowledge Transmissions’, her work examined the relationship between Bushcraft and Indigenous knowledges.

Supervised by the distinguished anthropologist Prof. Emerit. Roy Ellen, the research comprised an historical review, an examination of ethnographic literature and field work in multiple locations, including Sweden the UK and the USA.

Lisa has developed a range of perspectives about bushcraft through her writing; from her adventures and experiences with Indigenous people, to her study of ethnobotany, and her interest in bushcraft history.
